ABOUT US
Led by Annie Moore Hampton, twelve local members began pursuing efforts to establish a local chapter in 1958. Unable to find the required number of members in Ocala to establish a chapter, the members persevered and sought members in the neighboring counties. The Ocala Alumnae Chapter was chartered February 19, 1961. Thus, Ocala Alumnae was born with charter members from Ocala, Gainesville, Wildwood and Orange Park, Florida. Regional Director, Cecil Edwards, conducted the Chartering Ceremony. Later the chapter encompassed Lake and Alachua Counties.
Since 1961, the seeds of scholarship, service and social welfare have been nurtured by optimism, commitment, faith, skill and perseverance. Through the volunteer efforts of sisterhood, these seeds have been developed and grown into an extensive array of public service programs, projects and activities for the Marion County community.
